{iPhone App} Cube Dog

I have a TON of apps on my phone for the kids, who are 4 and almost 7. My son often takes my phone and sits down quietly to play some games. He’s already learning math and reading skills because of some of the apps available to him.

Clever Girls Collective asked if our family would like to try out the new Cube Dog app which became available in the App Store just this past week. I thought my daughter would like playing it, but much to my surprise, it’s my son who has been playing it the most. (My daughter isn’t into iPhone apps like my son is.)

The app is free to download, but there are add-ons that you can purchase. (Hint: you can go into the settings on your iPhone and disable in app purchases. Turn it back on when YOU want to purchase something from within an app. I’ve heard of parents who were shocked when their credit card had $150 of Smurf in app purchases. Ouch!)

We haven’t purchased any of the add ons, but my son is totally entertained by the features that come with the app for free.

You have the ability to create your own unique cube dog by selecting various parts and colors. There are full 3D graphics with ability to rotate and zoom and high-quality 3D animations. And it’s compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch 4 with camera.

It is hilarious watching my son play the game. It even kept him occupied during a VERY long wait at the doctor’s office. He made two dogs, choosing their attributes. He scratches its belly to tickle them, throws the ball to him, lets the dog be a ninja. And the best part is watching my son laugh his head off over and over when the dog holds up a sign and talks.

You can change the background to your surroundings by touching the camera icon. My son “takes the dog for a walk” around our house. And he also likes to switch the camera around to the front so that he’s in the picture with his puppy too.

And the best part? This is one dog that doesn’t make me sneeze!

Totally a fun app for the kiddos, especially since the basic app is free.
