Stinky Poop and Beanie Weenies

When my first child was a baby, I realized that I didn't know the real words to many classic baby and child ditties. But that's okay because my special version of Rock-a-Bye was sung every night to her until she was probably two-and-a-half. And now I sing it to the second child now and then.

One song that I learned at my daughter's preschool is Sticky Bubble Gum by Carole Peterson. (If you don't know it, go to this site and play it. It's track 2 on the left.) The teacher sings it and with each verse, the bubble gum is stuck to a different part of the body and the kids pretend to try to unstick the goop. It goes something like this:

Sticky, sticky, sticky bubble gum
Bubble gum
Bubble gum.

Sticky, sticky, sticky bubble gum
Sticking your fingers to your knees...

Well I have made this song my own and sing it to my son during diaper changes:

Stinky, stinky, stinky baby poop
Baby poop
Baby poop.

Stinky, stinky, stinky baby poop
Sticking to your tush.

This post was written for Parent Bloggers Network as an entry for a contest sponsored by Bush’s Beans. We are big fans of Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans. If only that dog would tell us the secret family recipe!

In fact, a very popular hit on this blog is my (simple) recipe for grown up beanie weenies, which use Bush's Baked Beans.

You know the song that starts "Beans, beans the musical fruit..." Bush's has a campaign to rework the song. After all, beans aren't a fruit! Maybe you can write the new bean chant.
