Supa Star!

Tonight was my sister's last orchestra concert before she graduates. During the last few pieces, my daughter stood in the hallway dancing carefree as only a three-year-old can.

She had flowers to take to my sister after the finale. She got away from me so quickly and traveled down the stairs and to the stage. I thought she would hand the flowers up.

No, not my daughter.

She climbed the half dozen stairs leading to the stage, crossed in front of the orchestra to my sister, handed her the flowers and gave her a hug. The audience oohed at how cute she was.

Did it end there?

Nope. She thought about leaving the stage and returning to me but when she realized the crowd was eating her up, she took center stage and smiled for the audience. Looking around and nodding with a grin to everyone. She then went to the conductor and shook his hand. This garnered even more giggles from the audience. She did not leave the stage until the orchestra disbanded.

There was nothing I could have done to stop her. She was so excited to give the bouquet to her aunt.

Afterwards, people approached me saying that they expect to see her on the big screen in a decade or so.

My other sister remarked that she might say she wants to be a doctor (and a nurse), but that she is definitely going to be a performer.

On our way home she told me that she wants to play viola, and dance, too. I suggested she take up Irish and violin if she wants to combine the two.

Her dance recital is this week. During practice they are supposed to stay on the line. But through the course of the number, she comes forward, inch by inch, until she is a good ten feet in front of the other children.

And that's part of the problem with the studio we are at. They are so rigid that there is no room for an emerging starlet (or for anyone to have personality). It is very difficult for my daughter to disappear into the crowd.
