Why Comcast Sucks

Insight became Comcast about a week ago.

The transition was not seamless. All of my DVR settings disappeared for a few hours. Of course this was on LOST night and I was panicked. Mama will not be happy if she misses LOST.

My internet was acting up before I went to bed last night. When I awoke at 2:30 AM and went to the bathroom, I thought I'd check my e-mail (because that's what moms do when they can't sleep in the middle of the night).

No internet connection.

I went to my husband's (crappy ass) computer because it has the cable modem and wireless router. His wasn't working either. I spent the next 45 minutes in the middle of the night trying to reset the router.

I got a message that said something about the system not supporting the use of a home network and router. Bull. We've had this set up for 3.5 years.

I called Comcast this morning. After a bit of a wait I finally spoke to a person. After being put on hold again, I was informed that they were upgrading in our area and it should be up soon. I said that it had been out since the previous evening and she said "that sounds about right."

Can I get a refund, I asked. Yes, but I have to wait until service is restored and then call again and request a refund.

So I went home at lunch today. We're going on the 16 hour mark. Still no frickin' internet!

This is my question: When a cable or internet provider knows that they are going to have an outage, why don't they tell their customers? No, that would be too easy.

And another Comcast complaint is that my DVR has been acting funny ever since the switch. The menu is slow (not great when you have a 3 year old next to you demanding the latest episode of Backyardigans) and during playback it keeps locking up for a few seconds.

The first time I lost all my DVR settings, the customer service person said they were in the process of updating and that the new menu is "exciting." The only thing I've noticed is that the DVR button is now on the right in the menu. That was quite an exciting change!

Gotta tell you Comcast, I'm not impressed!

Who do you use for internet and cable?
